About White Ribbon Pakistan Campaign:
White Ribbon Day Celebrations 2013 started off in Pakistan with the global theme: "From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Let’s Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women." It starts from November 25- International Day against Violence against Women- and ends on December 10- International Human Rights Day- to symbolically associate violence against women and human rights and emphasize that biases of all sorts are a violation of human rights.
The White Ribbon Day Celebrations 2012 included extensive social mobilization in 20 cities and 50 educational institutions nationwide including massive distribution of awareness material on mens engagement for ending violence against women.
GEO TV endorsed the campaign by running public service messages including anchors wearing White Ribbons throughout the transmission. Jang Group also endorsed the campaign through Daily, "The News" and "Jang". Warid Telecom supported the campaign by broadcasting the message to their over 3.0 million subscribers and through the display of campaign messages at their nationwide offices and outlets.
Even though small districts comprise uneducated and conservative population, people showed progressiveness and volunteer spirit regarding the development of the status of women. The impact of the campaign reached religious diehards and orthodox feudal lords as well. Veiled women joined in the walk and celebrated White Ribbon Day.
