Lost Mobile Phone/SIM

ANSWERS

  1. Are there any precautions I can take against unauthorized usage on my lost mobile phone?
You can protect your phone against unauthorized usage by activating the Phone Lock and/or SIM Lock function(s). All mobile phones have these security setting features.
    1. Phone Lock: By activating this function‚ you will be prompted to enter a PIN code every time the phone is switched on.

To activate Phone Lock: You may refer to your mobile phone user guide under \'Security Settings\' and set the PIN code accordingly. Should you forget your PIN code number‚ you will need to visit the respective mobile phone service centre to reset the PIN code.

    2. SIM Lock: This function enables you to protect the SIM card with a PIN. The default PIN for Warid SIM card is 0000. Once the PIN is activated‚ you will be asked to enter the PIN each time the phone is powered on. If a wrong PIN is entered incorrectly for 3 consecutive times‚ the PIN will be locked from further access. Warid will have to be contacted to obtain the Personal Un-blocking Key (commonly known as the PUK).

To activate SIM Lock: You may refer to the mobile phone user guide under \'Security Settings\' and set the PIN Code accordingly. Please note that the PIN security feature is turned OFF initially. The default PIN is programmed as 0000.

To change PIN: You may refer to your mobile phone\'s user manual.

    3. Taking note of your IMEI number: You may take the extra step of taking down the International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number. The IMEI is a 16-digit number unique to each mobile phone. You just need to key in *#06# on your mobile phone to access the number. This is to facilitate the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) efforts to block lost/stolen mobile phone.
